A modern coach station will be built in Katowice

Dziennik Zachodni reports that the construction of the Change Centre for International and Long-distance Coach Communication at Rzepakowa Street in Katowice-Brynów will commence soon.
The final agreement is going to be signed on 18th April with the new chief investor Kevin Parson from the British Hollybrook company.

The construction is going to start in June. Arrivals and departures area will be ready within one year, whereas the completion of the whole (a passengers clearance lounge, parking spaces, internal roads, public and guarded car parks and a hotel) is going to take 18 months. Apart from the carrier bays, ticket-sales points and left luggage offices, the coach station will also house shops and service points. The cost of the investment amounts to about PLN 30 million.

The creation of the coach station is connected with the necessity of redeveloping the communications structure in its vicinity. The investment will be financed from the state and local government budget as well as by means of the union funds. – The redevelopment will commence at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. It will result in transferring the national road no. 81, which currently runs through Brynowska Street and Kościuszki Street, to Kolejowa Street and 73 Pułku Piechoty Street – informs Mr Marcin Zych, the head of the City Development Department for the Municipal Office in Katowice.

The investor ensures that the expected redevelopment will not inhibit the investment. The present communications system is efficient enough.
