Financial situation of Silesia
On Monday 20 October Ernst & Young organised another edition of the annual Regional Business Forum. Discussion revolved around chances and dangers Silesia is faced with.
The conference, held in the Qubus hotel in Katowice, was the fourth edition of the Regional Business Forum organised by Ernst & Young and the editorial team of the "Nowy Przemysł" monthly magazine. As in previous years, the Forum was a meeting place for those involved in social and political life as well as for academic staff, entrepreneurs and visionaries.
The objective of those meetings is to specify chances and dangers of the region and to indicate right directions for development. Metropolis, as a company operating actively in Silesia and contributing to the processes taking place in the region, could not fail to participate.
During this year’s edition the participants discussed both global problems on local scale e.g. CO2 limits, the change of the economic structure, possibilities of accessing funds as well as matters concerning Silesia. Among other things, the future of the region in relation to the Upper-Silesian Metropolitan Union was presented and the efficient strategy of promoting the region was discussed.
The list of invited guests included: Jerzy Buzek, Member of the European Parliament, Jerzy Polaczek, Member of the Polish Sejm, Bogusław Śmigielski, Marshall of the Silesian Province and Piotr Uszok, Mayor of Katowice.
