Airplanes from Pyrzowice first to fly eastwards

Gazeta Wyborcza informs that from 2 January 2009 the passengers of WizzAir will be able to fly from Pyrzowice to the Borispol Airport in Kiev. This will be the first low-cost Poland-Ukraine air link.
The information on the new service offered by the Hungarian carrier was kept secret till the very last moment. Until now passengers heading for Lviv and Kiev had no other choice but to fly with Polish Airlines (LOT). In January the situation is to change and passengers making use of the services of the Katowice airport will have the possibility to fly to the capital city of Ukraine as often as 3 days a week. Pyrzowice is the first regional airport which will be able to provide such link.

More and more Polish (therefore also Silesian) businessmen invest beyond the eastern border. Research carried out two years ago showed that Ukraine is one of the most popular directions.
The new air link is also important as regards EURO 2012.
