Increased budget for the region, a good year for the agglomeration.
This year's budget of the Silesian Province exceeded one billion zlotys. Katowice is awaiting changes.
Almost 170 million zlotys will be allocated for the extension of one of the most important roads in the region - DTS road (intercity road).
Councilors allotted 12 million zlotys to the modernization of the Silesian Stadium. They also agreed to spend 90 million zlotys for building a roof of the stadium stand and for redevelopment of its characteristic tower. - The Silesian Stadium is the biggest facility of its kind in Poland. I am glad that the councilors appreciated it once again - says Mr Marek Szczerbowski, the manager of the Stadium.

Also the biggest Silesian theatres and museums are going to be renovated.
Local authorities of Katowice want to change the image of the city centre. Everyone knows about the plan to redevelop the center from the Roundabout to the Market Square. The discussion on the concrete vision of the capital city of Silesia is still being held. It is supposed to result in final decisions so that the announcements concerning the beginning of the building works next year could be carried out. We are running of good luck in economy and cannot waste this time - says the President of Katowice. Mr Piotr Uszok announces issuing decisions on terms of land development. We possess 12 000 ha of postindustrial land waiting for development - adds Mr Tadeusz Adamski, the head of the Economic Policy Section of the Marshall's Office.
