Katowice has gained recognition in Europe
Katowice is the first Polish city which has attracted the producers of the “Metropolitans” magazine on EuroNews channel.
EuroNews is a pan-European EU-financed news channel, which is broadcast in seven languages. Since January 2008 the “Metropolitans” magazine has been featuring outstanding European cities – before Katowice viewers could see the highlights of Manchester, Düsseldorf, Gijón and Lyon.
The episode about Katowice deals with the past and future of the city. Therefore, as well as Nikiszowiec, the historical settlement of Katowice, it also presents the project to rebuild the city centre. Once this project has been completed in the year 2020, the city centre will become one of the most modern localities in Europe.
Besides famous Silesians, such as Genowefa Grabowska, Tomasz Konior and the Mayor of Katowice, Piotr Uszok, the magazine also shows young students who express their opinions and look forward to changes.
