Is Silesia sexy for investors?

Metropolis has yet again asked this key question during the Silesia Investment Conference in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

The Conference took place on 8 May and was devoted to investing in Silesia and to the direction of development of the region. The participants included representatives of the largest companies and authorities of various cities. The main organiser of the event was the Poland Monthly magazine.

The discussion on the real estate market was opened by Jarosław Kubica, President of the Management Board of Metropolis Commercial Real Estate, who presented the project of Sexy Silesia, which showed in numbers the unique potential of Silesia.

Kubica emphasised that the amount of the office space in the Agglomeration will have to be tripled in order to catch up with the potential of other Polish metropolises. We also lack about 1 million m2 of retail and logistic space. Moreover, Kubica stressed that although the recent years have brought dynamic changes, the real estate market in the Agglomeration is still in need of development.

The discussion was also attended by Janusz Olesiński, Project Manager from Trigranit Development Polska, Tomasz Buras, Director of King Sturge, Jarosław Bator from the Ernst&Young consultancy group and Tomasz Lalik from Beskidzki Dom Maklerski.

After the discussion, the guests were invited to a banquet, honoured with the presence of the Mayors of Katowice and Dąbrowa Górnicza. The Metropolis company prepared a competition to select the sexiest place in the Silesian Agglomeration. The winning answers were: the Pogoria reservoir, the Provincial Park of Culture and Leisure, the ZOO and the castle in Pszczyna.

The winner of the competition received the unique album of CARTOGRAPHIA SILESIAE SUPERIORIS with reprints of 54 outstanding relics of Silesian cartography from the years 1561-1946. Most maps are presented in original sizes and the specially selected paper and painting technique allow for reconstructing them in a form close to the original.
