Conference centre and new hotels in Katowice

While planning this undertaking, the authorities of the city consulted with the Silesian Euro-MPs and the local academic environment. According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the idea of building the centre in Katowice has already been supported by e.g. the Provincial Governor of Silesia, the Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek and by the MPs of Katowice. Money for the construction will come from the city budget and EU funds. The officials from Katowice also count on support from the national budget. Apart from the conference centre, the building will house a hotel and gastronomic premises. There are also plans for building other hotels. Two of them will be created right in the centre of Katowice. Redevelopment of the marketplace and part of al. Korfantego will start this year. Spodek, next to which the conference centre will be built, is going to be modernized. So far, the city has allotted 5 million zloty for the most urgent renovations.
