The new expressway to Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport is now open.

A twelve-kilometre section of one-way expressway from Podwarpie to Pyrzowice (Silesian Province) was opened on Monday by the Polish minister of transport, Jerzy Polaczek.

-This expressway was not opened for politicians, but for 1, 4 millions of Katowice International Airport's passengers. It also aims to improve Silesia's transport and, after adding a second carriageway, will be connected in the future to the new A1 motorway - said Jerzy Poloczek.

-The expressway to Pyrzowice is one of the most awaited road connections in Upper Silesia. Its construction cost around 200 mln PLN and lasted for several years as it was delayed by the protests of inhabitants of various towns, through which it passes. Until now, the only access to Pyrzowice was via narrow local roads.
