Silesia as an El Dorado for investors

According to Puls Biznesu, Silesia is the best place for investors, and the north-eastern Poland is still occupied by rushes and boggy areas.

The information comes from the report on special economic zones prepared by the KPMG consulting company. The report focused on hard data and investors’ opinions. The Special Economic Zone of Katowice is the only one that comes out excellent in both respects. The area of Wrocław is also very competitive. Taking into account the potential of Kraków, the offer of this city is not very attractive for investors. The regions of Słupsk, Suwałki as well as Warmia-Mazuria fall far behind the others.

“It is still the same top regions. The area of Katowice and the Wałbrzych-Wrocław region are the leaders – partly because they are privileged as the south-western Poland is communicated with the world and is characterised by production culture, which cannot be found in Suwałki or Słupsk,” says Mirosław Proppé, Director of KPMG, author of the report.

The key to success is also about the ability to establish cooperation between: authorities of the Province – city - district - zone.

“We cooperate intensively with the Zone to attract highly processed services to Katowice. I can’t imagine promoting the city without a zone whose employees offer reliable information on good points and on threats, which is so important for investors. We promote not only the city but the whole Agglomeration. If someone can’t invest in Katowice, they may invest in Chorzów,” says Piotr Uszok, President of Katowice.
