New Flirt Testing

The journalists of Gazeta Wyborcza, along with other passengers, have been taken on the first test journey to see the advantages of that new means of transport.

The train has got a modern silhouette, runs fast, yet quietly. The interior of the train is spacious and comfortable. The producers are really interested in ensuring the safety of passengers that is why rotating cameras and fire detectors have been installed in the ceiling. More over, each carriage is equipped with emergency phone which can be used to call for help.

Two first Flirt Trains are to begin operating in Silesia in June next year, another two – by the end of 2008. The vehicles bought by the Province will be leased to PKP – Polish Railway Company.

The trains which cost in total PLN 90 million will operate between Bielsko-Biala and Częstochowa, and from Tychy, via Katowice to Sosnowiec. The latter train route will undergo renovation thanks to the new Flirt trains.
