Metropolis at Media Picnic of Business Centre Club

The Media Picnic in Zamek Myśliwski in Promnice was a meeting of Silesian businessmen and media representatives.

The Picnic organiser - Business Centre Club – invited Silesian entrepreneurs to a panel discussion. The panellists included Metropolis Commercial Real Estate. The main topic was related to economic prospects of Silesia.

Katarzyna Szyndlar, Investment Consultancy Director from the Metropolis company, presented arguments according to which Silesia is sexy for potential investors. Other speakers were of similar opinions: Grzegorz Pędras, President of the Management Board of Secus Sp. z o.o, Tomasz Raczyński, President of the Management Board of Kolporter EXPO Sp. z o.o., Andrzej Jagiełło, President of the Management Board of Sandvik Mining and Construction Sp. z o.o., Maciej Zientara, Vice-President of the Management Board of Supernova Capital and Tadeusz Adamski, Director of Economic Policy Department of the Marshal’s Office.

To sum up: Is Silesia sexy? In the opinion of the panellists, arguments supporting attractiveness of the region are much more optimistic than stereotypes concerning Silesia. The only thing that the Silesian Agglomeration lacks is a more positive image.
Representatives of Metropolis Commercial Real Estate wanted to gather “Silesian pearls” and asked the guests the following question: What is the sexiest place in the public space of Silesia, i.e. what place is nice to look at and visit?

The following places were mentioned: Zamek Myśliwski in Promnice, Silesian Park of Culture and Leisure – especially the Rose Garden and Planetarium, Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska, Silesian Stadium, Pałac Kawalera in Świerklaniec, Szyby Rycerskie in Bytom, Sztolnia Czarnego Pstrąga in Tarnowskie Góry, Żar Mountain, 29 Sokolska Street and Pszczyna Palace. There were so many interesting ideas that a guide book could be created on their basis.
The winning place was Nikiszowiec – a unique place, the only mining settlement of this kind in Poland, location where Kazimierz Kutz, Maciej Pieprzyca, Lech Majewski and Janusz Kidaw shot their films. The winner received an equally unique present – CARTOGRAPHIA SILESIAE SUPERIORIS album with reprints of 54 renowned works of Silesian cartography from the years 1561-1946. Most maps were presented in original sizes, and the special paper and printing technique allowed for their reconstruction in a form close to the original.
