Cleaning the railway station in Katowice
It asked the question whether anything could be done about it. A specialist cleaning company – IWaGo – decided to prove that the station can be clean.
So far, this problem has always been put off. The railway was helpless, the cleaning company washed its hands of the whole affair and the sanitary inspectorate explained that all it can do is to impose a fine. The authorities of Katowice also lose the battle against filth at the railway station. – The station must be demolished and replaced with
a new one. Only then will it be clean – say the officials.
The IWaGo cleaning specialists used dry ice – pellets of frozen carbon dioxide which attack dirt at a great speed, change into gas which expands violently, causes
a micro-explosion and removes pollutants. It took only a while to get rid of graffiti, stickers and chewing gums trampled into the ground. The specialists also use water, heated to a temperature of 80 °C and mixed with a cleaning fluid. It dissolves a thick layer of dirt without any problems. After a while the surface is nice and shiny. Dirt is removed together with the suffocating stench.
Idalia Dymek, administrator of the railway station in Katowice, was delighted with
the effects of cleaning. The Polish State Railways, however, explain that the decision about employing the company will depend on the costs of the undertaking. – We won’t spend a lot of money on cleaning a property which is soon going to be redeveloped – sums up Marek Sieczkowski from the marketing office of the Polish State Railways.
