Katowice downtown to be redeveloped by ten companies
It will definitely take a few years, yet the most optimistic version has it that a vast part of the works shall be finished by Euro 2012.
The redevelopment of the downtown, a prestigious project of the Katowice authorities, has been spoken about for years. According to the vision of the downtown presented by Tomasz Konior, the winner of the architectonic competition adjudicated last October, along Korfantego Avenue a number of new buildings will be erected and thus the city will gain the image of a modern metropolis.
The journalists of Gazeta Wyborcza made a list of ten companies interested in the investments, all of them prime Polish and European developers such as: Frankonia Polska, Echo Investments, ING Real Estate, Verity Development, Ghelamco, Clairmont Global, HB Reavis Central&Eastern Europe, and Globe Trade Centre SA, which invests in Poland, the Czech Republic and in Hungary.
Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the city authorities also seriously consider cooperation with two other well-known companies - Apsys Polska (which managers shopping centres in our region - in Zabrze, Sosnowiec and in Katowice, and in Poland – Manufaktura in ??d?, Kometa in Toru?) and Eurocape P.I.A. Irish developer Howard Eurocape (co-founder of Eurocape P.I.A.), which has experience in redevelopment of downtowns in Cape Town, South Africa and in Dublin, Ireland.
According to specialists judging the Katowice downtown redevelopment plans, it is now the most interesting place to invest on the Silesian real estate market. The capital of Silesia is a unique place, the only agglomeration of this kind in Poland. Creation of a new downtown is a great and inspiring challenge.
