New Model of Car in Silesia.

As Biznes Śląski reports, the car factory in Tychy starts the production of a new Fiat 500. The new model will be presented on 4th of July.

Only this year the Silesian Fiat factory will produce 58 thousand cars of this model, and the next year this number will rise - up to 120 thousand. As a result, the employment in the factory should increase by 1000 workers. The Polish branch is one of the most profitable Fiat companies. It paid over PLN 500 million dividend in 2006. At the time when the Fiat Auto Poland in Tychy increases the number of employees, the native company dismisses 2 thousand of employees from the Termini Imerse Company in Turin.

The summer date of the presentation of the new model car is not accidental. Exactly on that day, in 1957, the sale of the model of the Fiat 500 began. It became the most well-known model of this trade mark in the world. This small family car, thanks to its elegant line, is still the symbol of the company. The new model is a two-door hatchback. Its length is 355 centimeters, height - 149 centimeters, width - 165 centimeters, and the wheelbase is 230 centimeters. The Fiat 500 will be sold in the three variants of the engine. It will be equipped with the mechanical gearbox with 5 or 6 transmission ratios. Apart from that, in the year 2008, a new model of Ford Ka will be produced in the car factory in Tychy. Simultaneously, in a car factory Opel in Gliwice the same model of the car will be manufactured. The company has got the ensured production until – at least – 2015 (the Opel factory in Antwerp is being closed down). It seems that the position of Silesia as the car industry region is not threatened in any way.
