Ruda Śląska will have a proper downtown

As Gazeta Wyborcza reports, the authorities of Ruda Śląska want to create the city's downtown which the inhabitants could identify with.

It should be something more than just a market square, they want to create an attractive meeting, entertainment and recreation space. This area should integrate all districts of Ruda Śląska.

The starting point is the Jan Paweł II green square in the district of Nowy Bytom. The new square is to be much bigger, the church will not close it in the west side, but will be situated in its center. Behind the church another space will be created which will be closed by the new court building. From that point the axis with new public buildings and residential apartments alongside will be formed. The square will be extended also on the eastern side, behind the large block of flats, with a new park.

The city makes preparations for the urban planning contest to be launched after the holidays. The inhabitants of the city will be consulted about the project at every stage of its creation via i.e. web page www.rynek.rsl.pl, where one can find the below projection.
