The Inhabitants of the Silesian Agglomeration to Choose the Logo

The first stage of the competition, which began in March, is over. The projects were sent by the professional graphic artists, advertising agencies, as well as amateurs.

All projects were transported to the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. The professors of the Academy under the management of the Vice-Chancellor Marian Osliso had a critical look at the projects. The main criteria for the selection were: clear form and unambiguous association of the logo with the region. After the tumultuous discussion the artists chose four projects which - in their opinion - met the above conditions.

The projects were introduced to the Jury, composed of representatives of the districts which create the agglomeration. It turned out that two projects proposed by the lecturers of the Academy of Fine Arts did not appeal to the Jury, and some of the rejected ones - just the opposite.

Three projects won in the voting of the Jury: the project of Zofia Przybyska from Katowice, Sławomir Śląski from Jaworzno and Jerzy Müller from Piekary Śląskie. Now the readers can vote for them, sending the filled form to the editorial section of Gazeta Wyborcza. The winning project has got the chance to become the logo of the Silesian metropolis. The winner will receive the reward in the amount of PLN 7 000. There are 30 rewards, each worth PLN 100 for the readers. The announcement of the results is on 23rd April.

The prizes are sponsored by the Metropolis Commercial Real Estate.
